Giving Back to TJ - Second Annual Alumni Campaign Launched
November 22, 2011 - This week, the TJ Partnership Fund (TJPF) in collaboration with the TJHSST Alumni Association has launched its second annual alumni campaign to support TJHSST. We hope you’ll become an enthusiastic and generous participant! TJ relies on the TJPF to provide resources for enhancements to its critical academic curriculum. Working with the TJPF, TJ's administration and faculty identifies its needs beyond what Fairfax County and the Commonwealth of Virginia provide. The TJPF helps meet these needs, which directly supports TJ's unique research and academic opportunities. Recent examples include: -Providing state-of-the-art equipment, like the Biotech Lab’s RT-PCR machine -Enhancing three research labs by adding widescreen monitors -Supporting specialized faculty and administration training -Giving grants supporting TJ’s “One Question” initiative Last year, alumni support grew 250%. This year we have a tremendous opportunity to continue to grow support for TJ with our community of over 9,000 accomplished graduates. “TJ Alumni are proud of our school. We experienced first-hand the value of a TJ education and we benefit from it every day: academically, professionally, personally,” said Erik Petersen, TJ '89 and Chair of the TJPF Alumni Board. "Last year, alumni became a major force for TJ, now is the time to continue and enhance that support." "Participation by alumni is key -- every alumni donation counts," Erik said. "Alumni contributions, large or small, provide a foundation for supporting TJ. Strong alumni participation also helps us show corporations alumni involvement, helping generate stronger corporate support." ----- About the TJ Partnership Fund: The TJHSST Partnership Fund is a 501(c)(3) non-profit foundation dedicated to supporting TJ. Since 1999, the TJPF has channeled support from corporations, parents, alumni and friends of TJ to help close the "gap" between public funding and the cost of a TJ education. UVA Seeks Assistant Director, Graduate Marketing and Admissions
The McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia is seeking an Assistant Director of Graduate Marketing & Admissions. The Assistant Director will have responsibility for marketing to and recruiting experienced professionals for the executive format Master of Science in the Management of Information Technology program. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, planning and attending recruitment events; developing and executing effective integrated marketing communications; researching and understanding the IT industry and career paths; cultivating relationships with prospective corporate sponsors and related professional organizations; responding to inquiries and counseling prospective students; and effectively involving current students and alumni in the recruitment process. Frequent travel within Washington, D.C., Northern Virginia & Maryland as well as periodic travel to surrounding states is required during the recruitment season. Homecoming Game is POSTPONED to Monday September 26, 2011
Due to the current field conditions, the Homecoming Varsity Football game vs. Stuart has been postponed to Monday night at 7:00pm. We will still have a reserved section of bleachers for alumni - the section furthest from the game entrance. However, the alumni will no longer be having a gathering at Kilroys afterwards since the game will be on a Monday night. Look forward to seeing you Monday night in the alumni section of the bleachers! more...

Homecoming is This Friday the 23rd
Join the Alumni Association for the Homecoming Game, we'll be at the far eastern edge of the bleachers, and after the game we'll be at Kilroys for some social time, and we'd love to see you there. Kilroys is on Port Royal Rd, in the shopping center, just down Braddock Rd from TJHSST, turn right from TJ, make a left at the 1st light after you cross the beltway, and the shopping center and restaurant/bar is on the right.
